Drinking blueberry juice in the morning may give your brain a memory boost.
Drinking a daily dose of wild blueberry juice improved the memory of older adults with age-related memory problems.
According to researchers, blueberries contain a wealth of phytochemicals that possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Animal studies have also shown that the polyphenols found in blueberries, anthocyanins, can increase signaling in brain centers that are associated with memory as well as boost how the brain gets rid of glucose, all of which may help slow memory decline.
Researchers added there were trends suggesting reduced symptoms of depression and lower glucose levels among the wild blueberry juice drinkers, but additional research will be needed to confirm these results.
